Decisions decisions...

It is always so easy to make decisions from the comfy of an well worn comfortable arm chair.. ideas can be hairy fairy or hanging in the air...especially if your tic tok brain is locked in a battle to get the thread through the eye of the needle.

This week hubby faces a big decision...should I go or should I stay in working in the heat of the desert. It is the heat in the first place and all the stress that brought on his heart condition. It all boils down to health vs money. Easier said than done then to ask me what do I think?

Firstly, I am not inside his body. I am not the heart that is giving problems and want to jump out every time the heart rate goes up...he has to make the decision and him alone, so I will let him decide for himself, it is not up to me - Me? I will just sit quietly and try and get that darn yarn through the hole! My decisions are easy and comfy - should I put a pink or blue ribbon on a new created love heart ...It is crafty decisions and does not do my tic tok brain and strain or stress! But whilst sewing away I will pray for guidance for him from above and inner peace  / health  that no money or power in the world can buy. And I may I say peace to that♥

Every path has its puddle
English Proverb 698:
(from the book : 1001 Things to make you smile from Marion Kaplinsky)

Whilst all this turmoil is going on, my fingers are steadily sewing away and I managed to finish a few more love hearts... we all have decisions to make, whether small / big or life changing, whatever it is - try and make the correct one♥

Happy crafting and good luck with any decision that comes your way today!

Spring is in the air!

It is with a jump in my step that I get out of bed in the mornings now! (I deal with the aches and pains later...after I had my dose of caffeine). The sun is shining and spring has arrived! It is still a bit 'cold here and I cannot be brave enough to ditch the Winter duvet or any jumpers yet. It is just the lovely early morning and late light nights that bring hope in my heart for warmer weather.

My camera never leaves my side and I just love clicking away to capture the lovely blooms that sometimes only stay with us a while and they also inspire the colour chart in my heart.  Here are but a few I took this morning and hope you will drink them in, gaze at their beauty and enjoy them as much as I do. My tic tok hearts beats faster when I realise once again how wonderful nature is.

Yellow in its full splendour to make your spirits soar!

Friendly little faces smiling at you...

Red- the colour of warmth and love♥

It is with this lovely beauty around me that I cast my worries aside and throw myself totally into my crafts. In my little world where it is only me, my sewing machine and the the lovely flowers imprinted in my brain that I can escape into another world. A world where there is no hostility / anger / resentment / hate etc etc.

I just love colours and with my Free scraps project, more little hexagons were created and gives me peace of mind whilst I sit and sew under the blue skies and chilly wind...
A handful of colours thrown together- like nature ...

Almost enough to start the double bed spread!

Have a lovely week ahead and enjoy every minute of it. Escape into your own little world if things get too much and create something!

♥Happy Crafting♥

Another day...almost another month

My my how does time fly! With the long winter that visited us (univited) if I may add, it feels like Spring and summer would not come at all, BUT the last week it arrived. Also arriving with it are thousands of little immigrants in the form of snails...they migrate from the neighbours into our yard.

On a sad note, my hubbie has not been well for some time and after a cardio version last Friday he has been running around for one week now just to get a letter to say he is fit to go back to work in Qatar. The specialist said: you must get a letter from your GP....The GP gave him a note..'fit to work' although she has not seen him...his work rejected it...the GP phoned him back and she will now 'write' to the specialist to get a letter from him to submit....in the meantime he is missing his flight back....looks like he is not going to go back at all by the looks of it as the 'heat stress' in the middle East caused all these problems...oh well...will patiently wait and see what happens next!  To add to all this...his one friend who he has known since 1977 passed away and he could not go to say good bye...All we can do without  raising the blood pressure and add to pressure is sit back and enjoy the birds singing in the trees and have a nice cuppa in true British Fashion♥

The garden has been an inspiration this last week and lots of time was spent in it ( a lot of time hand picking snails.....then 'offer' them to the birds who just LOVE them...(are they French)? Apart from the French Finch..hehehe

At last Spring has arrived♥♥♥

My little garden friends (hubbie hates them) also woke up and now I have someone to talk to again whilst gardening
In the meantime, to get rid of my stress levels (apart from collecting snails...) I have been working on my blanket, my 'Free' scraps project and made some more hexagons and some little love-hearts - all in the making
Little love hearts made from scraps - in the making♥♥♥

My crotchet project from scrap wool is almost finished...
(was suppose to finish by January........)

More little hexagons see the light....

To lift my spirits, my grandson is making music for Nana♥♥♥
Have a lovely weekend
and remember...
the sun will shine tomorrow,
wherever you are♥♥♥

A plan is slowing getting together...

It was with great pleasure that I saw the sunshine this morning and decided to have a look to see how far my 'FREE project'' is getting on...it all started out with one little hexagon and I received so many pieces of 'free' scrap material from people that I decided to prove a point that you do not need oodles of boodles of pounds and pennies to create something.

Even a person with not a penny to the name can create by just asking for odd pieces of scrap material, just need one needle, a pair of scissors and some thread to start making something - there is no excuse! (the PC's are free to use at the local libraries for inspiration)

My project started out after I was challenged by the words - I have no money to make something -. I put myself in the shoes of a destitute person who has no money - just ask, and people are willing to share some off cuts with you and hey presto! By achieving something the inner soul gets renewed and inspiration brings hope, which we all need so badly these days! Apart from blue skies and lots of warm sunshine♥

Here is the project half way and I feel great knowing that I have made it, from 'nothing'.
I am half way there...
anyone has any more  'scraps' lying around for me?

A mix up world of colours♥

Keep being inspired by other people's work of art!

An only a few more hundred to go....
Happy Crafting wherever you are with a song in your heart!

Reasons to shout of with Joy♥♥
Spring is here♥♥
With Spring arriving at last with drips and drabs of cold spells it is lovely to see that the promise of new beginnings are in the air! New buds are on all the plants and the Tulips who are usually dominate the garden beginning in April is only starting to get ready to show forth some lovely colours with their blooms.

Saturday was gardening day and the weeds were tended to only to read in the paper that we are going to be invaded this month by slugs / snails….ugh eh ah…last year we ‘handpicked’ ‘millions’ from the garden and the birds thought it was take-a-way day the next day. This years a whole lot of pennies will be scattered amongst the flowers to give all little ‘electric’ shocks which will bring forth a message…go back where you come from- you are unwanted!

Yesterday morning we were privileged to be woken by a Coal Tit and his friends singing to announce they are there! I was shaking a bit and he would not sit still so the photo is a bit blurry…..sorry……….but had to share
Singing and announcing that Spring is here!
Tree is in bud and doves are waiting for their brekkie♥

All this lovely lighter / brighter mornings have inspired me to make more hexagons than ever – It is a project I started by ‘Making Something out of Nothing which cost me Nothing’.  Soon it will be turning into a ‘quilt’ if I may call it that. Next step is to look on Utube what the next step is after they are all sewn together. What marvel this Utube is to teach you anything for free! Bless all their little nimble fingers and kindness to share their knowledge to make the world a better place♥

My Friday (19.04.13) was spent in the local hospital as my hubbie went in for a cardio version as he had an irregular heartbeat – hope it is all sorted now! One can just but be positive about things like that at our age and take each day as it comes.

Odd bits sewed together with love....

Pieces of odd fabrics become something new...

Sometimes life may seem that there is no light at the end of the tunnel, but if it is not an oncoming train, rest assure – there is always SOMETHING to brighten your day. The challenge I took on to make something out of nothing and which cost nothing but time, is a challenge to all those out there who told me they cannot do / do not have the resources to create something. All you need is access to Utube (free at the libraries) ASK friends and family for old off casts pieces of material / take an old dress / shirt and Bob’s your uncle. A needle and a thread are available from most markets or the pound shop and away you GO!

All my grand children are inspired by the coming of Spring and also inspired by their mum she makes  the most beautiful cushions (patchwork) - it puts like...a little fire inside them to also create - it is in the blood!

My grand daughter Adile - busy with her art

Day Time  and Night Time Shell - wall hangings  painted by Adile

So once again on this lovely Spring morning I challenge everyone who say they cannot craft as it is too expensive to take on the challenge and make something out of nothing!

Visiting an art exhibition .....in Northampton
to get more inspiration for creation♥♥♥
Grand children enjoying the 'art'

Happy Crafting!

A lovely Sunny Saturday afternoon…06.04.13

At long last the sun came out (after all the cold and snow) and I joined a fair at the  Kingsthorpe Children's and Community Centre  OUTSIDE in full sunshine. Must admit the thick jersey I had on kept me nice and cosy. Some brave dads walked around only in  T-shirts, but I recon they must have felt too warm running after their precious little toddlers who embraced the lovely weather!

Once again I met a few old faces (not in years) but people I met at previous fairs and a quick hello was in order. New faces were met and names put to them. All in all a lovely experience going to fairs, having stalls and meet new faces / people / ideas.

Here is my grandson, helping out a bit whilst I did the ‘little girl’s room run’ .All afternoon the sun baked down and we drank every minute of it in and ate lovely decorated cup cakes.
My little stall helper....out in the SUN!

It is with longing that I look at photos taken in the garden last year 06.04.12. Everything was in full bloom and the trees were in full bud. Alas, this year, on 06.04.13, there is nothing to get excited about, just a grey looking sky, that is why yesterday was so promising with the sun visiting all afternoon!

Lovely little faces in the  garden last year - taken 06.04.2012
(this year.....but a few sad ones.....)
Taken 04.04.12 - This year...not a bud in sight
But I will brighten my life and surroundings with colours galore!

Here are some more off cuts I was given to carry on with my hexagon-mania (make something out of nothing)...so if anyone has any scraps lying around...send them my way (pretty please)♥

More colourful scraps of material

No matter what the weather -
keep on crafting and creating!

I fell in love with little Hexagons ........

Cannot stop making them now in my spare time -BUT with a challenge - I ONLY use scraps - no machine work - only use the old fashioned needle, hands, and off cuts from all over - all made for 'free'. Soon it will become something, one day....it shows me one thing- you do not need money to make something especially in these 'hard times' when we all try to make a penny without spending a penny.......

So, go out and make use of what we have - without
spending any money!

NEC Birmingham  21.03.2013 - Wow!

What can one say about seeing creations and more creations created by people who are artists of the humble needle!

A bit blurry...but 'readable'

I was fortunate enough to visit the Sewing and Embroidery Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham in March 2013. The only complaint….there was not enough time to drink and enjoy each and every exhibitor there! Walking from stall to stall one could only smile and enjoy all the vibrant colours / people /creations.

Here is my grand daughter admiring one of my favourite quilt of the show.....made by a Heather Hasthorpe..

My favourite quilt of the show....

The show was visited by myself, my daughter, little toddler and 2 teenagers. They soon disappeared from sight and were more interested in the hobby-craft side of the exhibition and thanks to technology we could reach them by mobile at any time.

Wow Wow Wow -Such lovely quilts....

Little toddler was extremely good and fell asleep as soon as we entered the halls…good little boy slept for 2 hours solid which was a bonus as we could walk around with no problem.

Our visits to the various stalls were not just ordinary visits….we indulged in a bit of retail therapy on numerous occasions…the stall holders were all so friendly and helpful which was a super bonus…lots of photos were taken / business cards taken to look up on the Internet afterwards and spend some more time admiring some people’s lovely work!
Too many buttons and ribbons to choose from......

It was a long day as we went there by train / walked around the whole day / took the train back home-----in the rush hour at 17H00---and for those who do not know the trains in the UK---that is the worse time! My poor daughter and children had to stand a whole hour –the whole journey as there were no seats available, but we made it and just collapsed at the end of the day- tired, but happy for being enriched by this lovely exhibition.

A bonus was a little fox that ran next to the train as we approached our destination station and my mind slipped back many moons to a little song I used to sing to my kids – ‘a fox went out on a chilly night, prayed for the moon to give him light…as he had many a mile to go’

So dear crafters and grafters and exhibitors – all well done and hopefully we will be able to go to the next exhibition again next year.
