Oops…it is the end of October…

Oops…it is the end of October…
I looked in the mirror this morning when I woke at 05H00 with the little toddler pulling my hair, saying Nan Nan! I t was time to get his bottle and the face that stared back at me was that of a good Halloween mask…

Grey hair in all directions, face crumbled the way I used the pillow…eyes a bit bloodshot from a lack of sleep…I then decided : no Halloween mask for me, I will go as is. (Must just take the broom out of the cupboard…….) Sweeties already bought and ready to be given out to those brave kids who will be knocking on our door tonight. Oh well…

I have not blogged a lot this month as I was away on a different wavelength. We have had 3 deaths notification of some people we / my husband knows and that was very sad…Further it was running around the country side having a lovely time with some friends and then off course our monthly trip to Winchester to see hubbie’s aunt who turned 90! Bless her.Up to lovely Doncaster for a friends wedding... Then it was the airport run for hubbie to go back to Qatar…In between still managed to get a few stitches in...for a new beanie...
still managed to get a few stitches in...

My sister Clarissa Rudd also reached a milestone – 60 Years! (As previously mentioned in a blog) Leaves started falling all around us and the approach of winter came knocking on our door….

In between all these on-goings, I managed to start sewing again – but a bit difficult looking after a very active little toddler who has new batteries every morning that just goes on and on and on…….. Bless his little socks!
I just love this African fabric!

Red Sunrise / Brown Earth - Earth and Fire!

I am looking forward to a visit from some French friends (a bit of a tongue twister) that are also popping over to see us. We have not seen them for some time and the children just grew up over night! (My perception).

The sewing took a back step - After 2 hours with 8 interruptions...and 2 tea breaks - I stopped... will carry on later.

Bright Yellow with Brown - love it!

I stopped
 will carry on later...

Life is so short and we sometimes get so caught up in the rush and haste of everything that I have told myself to slow down!!!! Like I have said so many times before –

STOP – THINK – REST – RELAX!

On that relaxing note, have a wonderful day and a more wonderful November ahead full of fun and laughter and relaxation!

Luvvies.

P.S. then on top of it all I have to learn to use my new mobile! My old one was old VERY old,  so this is another challenge....that will take time for my old tic tok brain.....

Rush Rush rush.....

Rush Rush rush.....
Oh how I rushed around these last two weeks! If it was not for my weight, my feet would not have touched the ground! BUT in between I managed to sew a stitch or two and crotchet a a bit.

Cool as a cucumber...

Detailed buttons / ribbons /beads - done with love

Hubbie does my 'knotting' for me

Like everyone else today on this planet, we all rush here and there and all over the show. Sometimes it is out of our control. Sometimes it just, well...happen!
Stitched with love

When hubbie is on leave from Qatar where he works, there is so much to do and see and talk about when he is at home -- that the Internet and crafts are the last thing on my mind!  The outside taps had to be taped up for the coming winter, this and that had to be done - all in preparation for the cold months ahead. Brrrr... I hate to think of it, but at the same time give praise that we are in a situation with a roof over our head and a warm and cosy little housie.

Apart from all this prep work for winter, we managed to get to Leamington Spa to visit some friends ( I got the times mixed up and could not visit the Quilt exhibition they have on) hubbie managed to go the hobby model engineering exhibition and we spent some lovely time with friends, then it was off to Winchester to visit aunt who turned 90! Bless her soul. The cherry on the cake was an evening at the theatre to see Julian Lloyd Webber on the cello as well as the Symphony orchesta playing music from different composers. Running after the little toddler grand child added more fun and laughter into the equation while looking after him at home. But what fun!

I used this wool - did not find it easy to knit with at all, but the end result was lovely and the colour blended in with what I saw, looking  out the window - Autumn leaves slowly making their way down to settle on the decking and grass - waiting for me to sweep / rake them up. A joy, never the less...
Lovely autumn colours

Little scalloped edge with flower

Difficult to knit - lovely soft glittery end result
Well, folks that is all at the moment and I am now rushing off to Birmingham tonight to come back tomorrow to go straight to work.... What  a rush!
Take time to smell the flowers!

Remember to take time out and relax,
no matter how much rushing is going on.
Happy crafting and hopefully will be back to normal after the weekend....before the rush starts again!!!

Luvvies to all.

Time goes by…

Time goes by….
Sometimes we get depressed when we look back at things that happened and affected us in the past, but greater the fear of the unknown things that await us ahead.

I visited a  friend (Cheryl) some time ago and she talked and inspired me with a video of  ‘ what you wish for you will get’. It was so positive and I felt like walking on air when I left her house. I was inspired with new goals in life and a new outlook on things / happenings.

Then, time goes by…and my beloved sister, Clarissa Rudd of Jeffreysbay will be 60 tomorrow!. It will hopefully be a time for her and us to help her celebrate this occasion. It is a milepost. A new beginning in her life. A time to reflect and look back, but most important looks forward with zest and new goals in mind! She has inspired so many of us with her fantastic crafts and handiwork. Too many to mention. She has lived her life to the fullest and will thus carry on – on a positive note. Well done, my sis and all the best for the years ahead - happy crafting!

Which brings me to this saying out of one of my favourite little books (1001 Things to make you smile – by Marion Kaplinsky)

                                                         KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
In youth, the absence of pleasure is a pain; but in old age, the absence of pain is a pleasure’

I will try my best to be POSITIVE and start enjoying the cold weather (mentally prepare myself) as winter has opened its door here in Northampton.

Time goes by….and at long last I have finished a bag which was started weeks ago (interrupted by a holiday at the seaside / a trip up to Yorkshire / looking after a little toddler / getting the garden ready for winter etc etc etc…..
I almost forgot how to sew......

Red button and red beads to compliment the cherry blossoms

Sewing the time away.....

Funky and colourful

Back of bag ! Soft Cherry blossom twigs...

AT  LAST!

Finished lined bag ready to go!

Happy crafting in the cold and warm weather –
 no matter what the weather
as long as you
and your sewing machine are together!
(or knitting/crotchet needles)

Old but still in use…

Old but still in use…

Hello to all – yes I am still alive! Came back from holiday and had so many things to attend to, so did not get near my blog…I had a wedding to attend in Doncaster,  children to mind, houses to clean,  dinner with a previous  colleague, clearing the garden, BUT  I had time to page through my photo albums…and enjoy the flowers that have been...now the frost is moving in fast! So I can only remember the bright flowers via old photographs I have taken.

Many times in our lives we always look for something new and forget the good old faithful things we have. We tend to want to follow fashion in clothes and hair and often follow the ‘’trends’’.

I cringe now when I look back at my 80’s hairdo! I was one of the ‘smart cookies’ then – hair always done in the latest fashion which now, if I look back, made me look like an upside down mop with huge round glasses…..the best fashion was the natural one with the 70’s hippie years…hair flowing natural in the wind…still in use today!

My sister Clarissa Rudd from Jeffreysbay, made my grand children each a rug sack  when  they were born and those bags are still in use now,  after 13 /15 years. These ruck sacks were brought across the ocean wide and have been through many a wash cycle, but are still as lovely as they day they were made.

Blue for a boy..now trendy for a teenager

I've been through the wash for 14 years and still going on....

Bears, Bugs and Bees and Blue for Boys

It has become part of them. Sometimes they change bags ( see Blog ‘’Inspirations’’ – 16th July) and try something new, but they always return to the good old faithful ‘’known’’ bag.

It does not matter whether you always have something ‘new’ to show off. I admit it is sometimes so lovely to indulge….but we should always be happy and content with that which we have and give thought to those who have nothing or those whose belongings have been taken from them.

Take each day one at a time and enjoy it to the fullest and your enthusiasm and happiness will be noticed and taken up by those around you and the world will seem such a more happy and contended place to be in.

Happy Crafting and remember not to forget
the old and faithful things we have.

Luvvies.

Dreaming…Back from a week in the SUN!

Dreaming…Back from a week in the SUN!

How lovely it is not to have a care in the world! No worry about– ANYTHING!
Just you and your tic tok brain drifting off into oblivion…..

a place where I feel safe and warm and happy.

I go to a place where I feel safe and warm and happy. A place no one else can go. It is MY place, my Space inside my tic tok brain.

Here I dream about new ideas taken from the new surroundings. The blue from the sky, the most beautiful flowers in this  far away country.  different – something new that only grows where it is always warm and the sun is most welcome everyday.

Warm Red Colours in the Sun

New ideas start forming and soon they will be transferred into a new creative craft.

So dainty and petite

I remember something that I read long time ago, it goes something like this

‘’ We are living at such a fast speed that was never meant for mankind. Time and energy are wasted on things that are not of really value or enriching in our lives. If this restlessness takes hold of your mind, body and soul, life becomes a cruel circle of frustration  and broken dreams…’’

Soft blues to calm the soul

Happy Crafting at a slower speed!
